Student Reporting Labs was recognized by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) with an instructional media award for its engagement strategies, Student Academy, teacher workshop and curriculum, including the original “LEVEL UP” tutorial video series. It was one of 30 projects from 20 public television stations at the annual NETA conference in Washington, D.C that received an award. The videos were written, produced and edited by SRL producers Jordan Vesey and Victor Fernandez.

“LEVEL UP” is aimed at inspiring students to take their storytelling and camerawork to new heights by teaching them about  b-roll, lighting, audio, advanced DSLR techniques and POP (principals of photography).

The NETA award competition was first organized in 1968 to honor the best of community engagement, promotion, instructional media, and content production from member stations.
