SRL correspondents land on Snapchat Discover

Inspired by Parkland activists, SRL correspondent Memphis Cleveland from Black River Falls High School in Wisconsin challenged herself to step out of her comfort zone and connect with other young people in her community who she would not normally interact with.

She challenged two other SRL students, Jaylah Moore-Ross in the Washington, D.C. area and David Hererra in Covina, California, to do the same on April 20, another day of student action as part of the movement against gun violence that began after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Florida on February 14, 2018.

Memphis, Jaylah and David captured video of their connection challenge and sent it to SRL headquarters where it was turned around into a story that was published on Snapchat’s Discover page. It was SRL’s first official partnership with Snapchat.
