SRL Shines on NewsHour

Pieces produced by students in different Reporting Labs across the country for Limitless: Breaking the Bounds of Disability aired on NewsHour this month. The final project of the school year challenged students to find stories that showcase how people with disabilities overcome limits placed on them by doctors, teachers, family and society.

Living Without Limits is about Ryan Hudson-Peralta, who born with congenital limb deficiency. The piece was produced by his son, Noah Hudson-Peralta at Frederick V. Pankow Center in Michigan. A week after their story aired, they both participated in a NewsHour Twitter chat about how to change the conversation around disabilities.

Emma Kate Woods and her classmates at Dalton Middle School in Georgia produced this report about eleven-year-old Jerry Bruce Hennon who was born with a heart defect that required him to get a heart transplant.
