Designs for a More Effective Prison

Cape May County Technical High School

Housing inmates in the nation’s prisons is a notoriously expensive and laborious undertaking. One new facility in Cape May, New Jersey is using innovative design to try and manage both cost cutting and alleviating tension between prisoners and guards by using open floor plans and direct supervision, a system that brings guards and prisoners closer together to increase the likelihood of rehabilitation.

Produced by Ray Sipple, Tyler Chiera, Andrew Sylvester, and Cierra Westfield at Cape May County Technical High School in Court House, New Jersey. Instruction provided by SRL Connected Educator Christopher Jones.
