SRL covers March For Our Lives for NewsHour broadcast and digital
Six students from Northview High School in Covina, California traveled to Washington, D.C. to cover the youth-led March for Our Lives for PBS NewsHour Weekend.
Students Andre Tinoco, Zulelalee Escobar, Emily Rincon, Fernando Cienfuegos, Chris Rosenblum, Theo Casey and SRL Connected Educator Amy Woods worked with SRL staffers to turn around two stories in less than 48 hours. The first story on how youth of color experienced the day aired on PBS NewsHour Weekend; a longer version of the video package and accompanying news article was published on NewsHour digital.
The second, a news article for digital on why young immigrants joined the March for Our Lives.
In order to make the trip, the student reporting team from California raised $20,000 in less than a month to cover the cost.
