Collaborate with SRL

Our Approach
We collaborate with local and national news organizations that want to include youth perspectives in their reporting and (re)publish existing student reporting. Student perspectives can strengthen and complement local and national reporting on so many topics that disproportionately impact youth (e.g. education, mental health, gun violence…) We seek to connect with news organizations and networks, collaboratives, and local/engagement-forward organizations to develop a wider audience for student-reported stories and opportunities for local mentorship. Republish + Distribute
We collaborate with local news outlets, youth media organizations, and local PBS and NPR stations to make student-produced stories available for (re)publication so that student-produced stories can reach relevant local and topic-aligned audiences. If you/your organization is interested, complete this form.

In addition to working with PBS NewsHour to publish select student stories nationally, we also share select student work with networks like AP Story Share, Covering Climate Now, Solutions Journalism Network, etc.

Workshops/Trainings
Student Reporting Labs has years of experience supporting young people, training educators, and training journalists to work with student reporters. Our staff is available to discuss training opportunities for educator professional development/media training as well as training for news organizations looking to include more student and youth perspectives in their reporting.

Collaborative Reporting Projects
Collaboration is important to us, and we are exploring partnerships with other newsrooms to report stories together that can be published in tandem.
