Ask the Alumnus: Annie Collick

Ever since joining the Student Reporting Labs, Annie’s passion for storytelling has skyrocketed.

Now a freshman at Columbia College Chicago, Annie is working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Television with a concentration in production.

During her most recent visit to Michigan, the aspiring filmmaker was intrigued by the happenings in nearby Flint and thought, “why not go there and cover the water crisis?”

Off she went, shooting b-roll of the water pick ups and even interviewing Amariyanna Copeny or ‘Little Miss Flint,’ an 8-year-old girl who wrote a letter to President Obama urging lawmakers to do more for the city.

When asked what motivated her tell this story, she responded that her time with SRL instilled in her a drive to go out there and produce the best story possible.
