SRL on location in Coachella
The Coachella Valley Unified School District in California is one of the poorest districts in the U.S.
To provide Internet access to students who live in neighborhoods that lack reliable wireless connections, the district installed solar-powered Wi-Fi routers on school buses. Everyday, the buses are parked in neighborhoods and trailer park homes so that students can do their homework online.
SRL team members Thaisi Da Silva and Matt Ehrichs worked with Etiwanda High School, West Ranch High School and PBS SoCal to produce a PBS NewsHour story about how this program is bridging the digital divide.
