Introducing the SRL Teacher Ambassador Fellowship + 2026–27 Cohort

We’re excited to introduce the next evolution of the PBS News Student Reporting Labs’ Ambassador Program: the SRL Teacher Ambassador Fellowship.  This year-long, fully funded professional learning experience is designed to equip educators to lead video and audio journalism and storytelling workshops, mentor fellow educators, and expand PBS News Student Reporting Labs programming in schools and communities nationwide.

As we transition from a pilot ambassador model into a sustained fellowship experience, we’re proud to welcome our 2026–27 cohort of Teacher Ambassadors who represent communities across the country. This growing national network of educators will help foster student voice, media literacy, and journalism education at the local level.

The fellowship begins with an immersive in-person summer training from July 14–17, 2026, where Ambassadors will collaborate with peers, participate in hands-on production and facilitation training, and co-create plans for local outreach and mentorship. Throughout the 2026–27 school year, fellows will continue their journey by leading professional development, mentorship, and peer-to-peer learning experiences in their home communities.

SRL Teacher Ambassadors serve as local resources for educators interested in bringing journalism, storytelling, and media literacy into their classrooms. Whether supporting teachers new to student media making, presenting at local professional development days, or leading community workshops, Ambassadors help expand access to meaningful, student-centered journalism education nationwide.
