November 18, 2025
Run, Hide, Fight: Growing up under the gun has been named a Gold winner in the Health: Documentary or Film category of the 5th Annual Anthem Awards. This year, the Anthem Awards received more than 2,000 submissions from 42 countries worldwide.
Each segment of Run, Hide, Fight was produced by 14 student reporters in collaboration with PBS News Student Reporting Labs, and centers the perspectives of young people who live in the shadow of gun violence. The impact of gun violence extends far beyond those who are injured or killed. Run, Hide, Fight explores what it’s like to be part of a generation growing up under the threat of school shootings and random acts of violence.
“PBS gave me the chance to tell this important story,” said student-producer Ethan Rodriguez. “No kid deserves to feel unsafe, not on their own block, not in their own school, not in their own community.”
Launched in 2021 by The Webby Awards, The Anthem Awards honors the purpose & mission-driven work of people, companies and organizations worldwide.
“This has been a challenging year for the impact sector, but the Winners of the 5th Annual Anthem Awards have shown their resilience and continued commitment to a better tomorrow,” said Anthem Awards General Manager, Patricia McLoughlin. “This year’s winners are a source of hope, and I am excited to celebrate their work with the world today.”
The Anthem Awards honors work across seven core causes: Diversity; Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging; Education; Art & Culture; Health; Human & Civil Rights; Humanitarian Action & Services; Responsible Technology; and Sustainability, Environment & Climate.
