SRL stories up for major student journalism awards

SRL storytellers from Michigan and Texas told important national stories about economics and agriculture this year, and they are getting recognized for their work.

Students with “The Flash” at Fraser High School have been named finalists for the 2014 National Scholastic Press Association’s Broadcast Story of the Year award. Their report investigates how students and politicians feel about creating a wage limit that is determined by an age requirement.

Kennedy Huff’s “From Farm to Table” story has been named a finalist for the 2014 National Scholastic Press Association’s Multimedia Story of the Year Award in the category of Multimedia Feature.

Kennedy’s story was one of two Multimedia Story of the Year finalists from Pflugerville High School.

A full list of NSPA multimedia and newspaper finalists can be found here. Winners will be announced at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention on November 8 in Washington, D.C.
