California art initiative examines how science and art collide

Two exhibitions join the Academy Museum in Los Angeles as part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide. Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema showcases the technological history of coloring films, from hand coloring Anabella’s Serpent Dance to Technicolor, to oversaturation techniques seen in movies like Moonlight and Blade Runner 2049. The museum also features the exhibition Cyberpunk: Envisioning Possible Futures Through Cinema. It shows the possible societies that can be created through advancing technologies and asks us to think about where we can go with advancing AI, extreme climate change, and other modern challenges.

This piece was produced by Emilie Berkowitz, Steven Andrade, and Ebonie Shelley, with support from Wyatt Mayes and Eduard Cauich.
