Citizen Scientists help remediate damaged desert soil crusts

At the Mcdowell Sonoran Conservancy, Helen Rowe, the director of the Parsons Field Institute, is experimenting with how to grow back desert soil crusts that are essential to curb erosion and facilitate nutrient transfer in the Sonoran Desert. She leads citizen scientists to develop new and more effective methods for soil crust remediation.
