Mapping Mammoth Cave’s waterways

Pleasure Ridge Park High School | Louisville, KY

Students at Mercy Academy in Louisville designed a drone capable of venturing into the underwater passageways of Mammoth Cave National Park, home to the longest cave system in the world. Using data gathered by drone expeditions, students are finding areas that have previously gone undiscovered and unexplored.

Produced by Justin Decker, Sanam Magan, Bradley Downey, Ariel Findley and Kyler Hack, students at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Instruction provided by SRL Connected Educator Mary Dunn. Mentor support provided by Brian Spellman.

Special thanks to Mammoth Cave National Park for the opportunity to explore the natural, cultural and educational resources being preserved for visitors from around the country and world by the park and its rangers.
