Speech pathologist brings Snoezelen to Chicago to help students with disabilities

Snoezelen is a made-up Dutch word that means to relax and to explore. Marilyn Sandler, a speech pathologist, worked with Snoezelen abroad and raised over $150,000 to bring it to her school and help children with special needs communicate better with those around them. She told a group of student reporters from Free Spirit Media that she designed the space to engage children while teaching them to interact with their environment in a safe and comfortable way.
