“I work inside of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino so when the first couple of cases began to break out, I was immediately informed…Hotel occupancy went from 95% to 20% when the virus was just beginning to spread. At first, we found it fun to go up to the casino floor and see how bare and empty it was. We had never really seen it so vacant. But things quickly began to change from fun to worry. The Saturday before shut down occupancy was at 5% which is lower than it’s ever been in the history of the hotel… My boss tried to tell us that everything would be okay and we wouldn’t be laid off but a week later was suddenly advising us to file for unemployment.”
